Maysan governor fires staff photographed eating on CT scanner

MAYSAN — The Maysan Health Directorate said Gov. Habib Al-Fartousi has dismissed medical staff who were photographed eating a meal on a CT scanner and has launched an official investigation into the incident.

In a statement, the directorate clarified that the CT device had not yet been activated or entered into service.

“The scanner is still being installed and has not been operated yet,” the statement said. The machine, a Japanese-made Fuji model, is being installed at the radiology center in the Al-Maimouna district as part of Maysan’s investment plan.

The directorate described the scanner as “an advanced device that will contribute to improving the quality of diagnostic and health services in the governorate.”

Al-Fartousi also directed the formation of an urgent committee to investigate the conduct of the supervising staff and determine how the incident occurred. He issued an official warning to the company handling the device installation.

The governor ordered the dismissal of the staff seen in the photo, calling their actions a violation of professional and workplace conduct standards.

“The Maysan Health Directorate affirms its ongoing commitment to safeguarding the integrity and security of medical equipment, and adhering to the highest professional standards in its institutions,” the statement said. “All employees are urged to respect workplace regulations and uphold the image of the health sector.”
