Boy electrocuted while fixing air conditioner in Tuz Khurmatu
TUZ KHURMATU — A 13-year-old boy died from electrocution on Sunday while attempting to fix an air conditioning unit in a home undergoing renovations in Tuz Khurmatu district, local officials said.
The boy was identified as Hassan Sami, a sixth-grade student.
Jasim Abdullah, a staff member at Tuz Khurmatu General Hospital, told 964media, “A short while ago, the body of a 13-year-old boy was brought to our emergency unit, and after examination, it was determined he had died instantly due to electric shock.”
The boy’s body was transferred to the forensic medical examiner in Kirkuk for investigation before being released to his family.
The victim’s uncle, Abbas Abdulkhaliq, said the incident happened around noon when the boy entered the house alone. “No one was inside at the time. He went alone to fix part of the air conditioner’s electrical connection, and during the work, he was electrocuted and died on the spot,” Abdulkhaliq told 964media.
