Two injured in fuel station fire near Amedi with one in critical condition

DUHOK — A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at a fuel station in Qadish, near Amedi, injuring two individuals, including one critically, local officials said.

Bewar Abdulaziz, spokesperson for Duhok’s Civil Defense Directorate, told 964media that the blaze, triggered by a gas system malfunction, was brought under control.

The fire erupted around 4:45 p.m., severely injuring a fuel station employee and a civil defense worker.

Masoud Boti, deputy director of Amedi District Health, said the injured fuel station worker, 18, suffered burns over approximately 80% of his body and was transported by ambulance to Azadi Hospital in Duhok for emergency treatment.

Authorities temporarily closed the road between Qadish and Amedi following the incident. The Qadish community is located about 45 kilometers from central Duhok.
