Man Shot Dead Outside Home in Dhi Qar in Apparent Tribal Revenge Attack

DHI QAR — A man in his fifties was shot and killed outside his home in the Hay Al-Askari  neighbourhood in Souq al-Shouyoukh on Monday by two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle, according to a security source.

“The victim was standing at the entrance of his house when a motorcycle carrying two individuals passed by. They opened fire on him before fleeing,” the source told 964media.

Initial investigations suggest the killing was motivated by an old tribal feud. Security forces have launched a search operation and circulated the suspects’ descriptions after they were captured on nearby surveillance cameras.

The victim’s body was transferred to the forensic department for further procedures.

Tribal disputes in Iraq often result in violent confrontations, particularly in southern provinces. These conflicts, which can span generations, frequently challenge state authority and complicate efforts by security forces to enforce the rule of law.
