Taxi driver found dead with signs of torture, vehicle missing

KIRKUK — A 57-year-old taxi driver was found dead Friday in an unfinished building in the Shoraw area, north of Kirkuk, just hours after he was reported missing, according to a security source.

The victim, identified as A.H.I., was born in 1968 and worked as a taxi driver in the city. His last known contact with family was at 12 p.m. on Thursday. He was reported missing around 1:30 p.m. after all communication ceased.

“His body was discovered inside an unfinished house in the Shoraw area,” the source told 964media. “There were clear signs of torture on the body.”

Initial investigations suggest the man was kidnapped by unknown individuals who stole his car, killed him, and left the body at the scene. The vehicle has not yet been located.

Security forces are continuing to gather evidence and conduct inquiries to identify and apprehend those responsible.
