PM Al-Sudani, Badr leader Hadi Al-Amiri discuss elections and security in Baghdad
BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met Saturday with Hadi Al-Amiri, Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, to discuss Iraq’s current political and security landscape, according to a statement from the prime minister’s media office.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the need to hold Iraq’s next parliamentary elections as scheduled.
“The parliamentary elections must be held on their scheduled date, as a true expression of the will and aspirations of the Iraqi people,” the statement said.
The cabinet has officially set November 11, 2025, as the date for Iraq’s next parliamentary vote. The announcement was made April 9 by the prime minister’s office.
Preparations for the election are underway. Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission began updating the national voter register on March 24, a monthlong process considered a key step in organizing the polls.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Saturday, with the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Mr. Hadi Al-Amiri.
During the meeting, they discussed the overall situation in the country and emphasized the importance of supporting the government in completing its program to achieve development. This includes strengthening coordination and cooperation among all national forces to consolidate security and stability in Iraq.
The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of holding the parliamentary elections on their scheduled date, as a true expression of the will and aspirations of the Iraqi people.
