Five injured, including three children, in motorcycle incident in Sulaymaniyah

SULAYMANIYAH — A three-wheeled motorcycle carrying nine people overturned Sunday near Bardakari village in the Zarayan subdistrict, Sulaymaniyah, injuring five individuals, including three children, according to local health officials.

Saman Saber, head of emergency services at Shaheed Raouf Hospital in Shahrzur, told 964media that “the motorcycle had nine people onboard, and five of them were injured, including three children aged three, five, and seven.”

All injured were transported to the hospital for treatment. Saber said the children’s injuries were minor, but two other individuals were referred to Sulaymaniyah hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

Traffic-related deaths remain a major concern in the governorate. In the first half of 2024, officials recorded 111 fatalities. In 2023, the Sulaymaniyah Traffic Directorate reported 1,047 traffic incidents resulting in 153 deaths and 1,887 injuries.
