Woman killed by hailstorm in rural Chamchamal district

SULAYMANIYAH — A 34-year-old woman from the village of Kani Banawa in Sulaymaniyah’s Chamchamal district died Wednesday evening after being struck during a hailstorm, according to local health officials and family members.

Kazem Yousif, director of the Takiya health center, told 964media the woman, a mother of four, had already died by the time she arrived at the facility. “She was hit by hail and lost her life as a result,” Yousif said. “She was brought to us shortly after the incident, but unfortunately, she had already passed away.”

Family members said she was outside the village when heavy rain and hail began to fall. “Our village is about two kilometers from the Takiya center,” a relative said. “She was caught in the storm and seriously injured before she could be transported to the hospital.”
