One dead, four injured in Sulaymaniyah car crash

SULAYMANIYAH — A woman was killed and four others injured in a traffic rollover involving a pickup truck in the Tainal area of Sulaymaniyah on Sunday, according to local authorities.

“The incident occurred shortly before, resulting in one death and four injuries,” Bazian Traffic Director Shorsh Jalal told 964media. He confirmed the vehicle involved was a pickup.

This was the third reported traffic incident in Sulaymaniyah on Sunday.

Traffic-related fatalities remain a major concern in the governorate. In the first half of 2024, officials recorded 111 traffic deaths. In 2023, the Sulaymaniyah Traffic Directorate reported 1,047 incidents resulting in 153 deaths and 1,887 injuries.
