Oil tanker explosion in Khor Al-Zubair kills welder, injures truck driver

BASRA — A welder died and a truck driver was seriously injured Monday when an oil tanker exploded during repairs in Khor Al-Zubair, Basra Governorate, a local security source told 964media.

The explosion ignited part of the tanker, killing the welder and leaving the driver, originally from Baghdad, with severe burns. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Firefighters contained the blaze, but the tanker sustained extensive damage. Authorities have launched an investigation.
