Two crashes in Duhok, Sulaymaniyah leave 12 injured

DUHOK — Two separate car crashes in Duhok and Sulaymaniyah governorates left 12 people injured, according to health officials.

The first accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on the Bardarash-Daratoo road near the village of Dugundan in Duhok governorate. The crash involved passenger vehicles, and all passengers sustained serious injuries.

Nashwan Barzinji, spokesperson for Bardarash district’s health department, told 964media that eight people were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

“The injured include five men, one woman, and two children,” he said. “Due to the severity of their injuries, two were transferred to Erbil for further treatment, while one was sent to Akre district.”

A second accident occurred the same night on the Arbat-Qaradagh road near the village of Dararash in Sulaymaniyah governorate, leaving four people injured.

The crash involved a truck and a passenger vehicle. Emergency responders transported the injured from the Arbat health center to Shoresh Hospital in Sulaymaniyah.

Saman Nader, head of Sulaymaniyah’s emergency response center, told 964media that the accident happened near the Arbat-Qaradagh checkpoint.

“Four people were injured in the accident. They received initial treatment at the Arbat Health Center before being transferred to Shoresh Hospital for further care,” he said.

Nader added that all four injured were male and suffered injuries to their backs and arms.

“Their health condition is stable,” he said.
