Al-Maliki, Lebanese ambassador discuss regional developments and bilateral ties
BAGHDAD — State of Law Coalition leader and former Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki met with Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq Ali Habhab to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations, according to a statement from Al-Maliki’s media office.
During the meeting, Al-Maliki emphasized the “deep ties between the two countries” and reaffirmed Iraq’s support for Lebanon in “maintaining its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security.”

State of Law Coalition leader Nouri Al-Maliki received the Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Iraq, Ali Habhab, at his office today.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Maliki and the ambassador exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Al-Maliki emphasized the deep ties between the two countries, and both sides discussed recent developments in Palestine and Lebanon, exchanging views on the situation.
Al-Maliki reiterated Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, increasing cooperation, and working jointly for the benefit of both nations. He reaffirmed Iraq’s support for Lebanon in maintaining its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. The discussion also covered the reconstruction of homes and institutions in southern Lebanon that were destroyed by Zionist aggression.
The head of the State of Law Coalition expressed Iraq’s rejection of Zionist violations and attacks on Lebanese territory and emphasized the need to contain the prevailing tensions.
For his part, Ambassador Habhab mentioned Lebanon’s commitment to strengthening ties with Iraq and expanding cooperation in ways that serve mutual interests. He also expressed appreciation for Iraq’s supportive stance toward the Lebanese people.
