One killed, one injured in crash near Topzawa checkpoint

ERBIL – A 32-year-old man was killed and another person was injured late Monday in a crash on the Koya-Taqtaq road in Erbil governorate, according to medical officials.

The crash occurred near the Topzawa checkpoint. Nashat Mohammed, spokesperson for the emergency department at Shaheed Dr. Khalid Hospital, told 964media that the deceased was identified as “Sarwar Faisal.” He had been driving a passenger car when it overturned, leaving a passenger injured. Both victims were from the village of Marjani in Taqtaq district.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the accident. The section of road where it happened is straight and without sharp turns.
