Truck tire explosion kills young man in Basra

BASRA — A young man in his twenties was killed on Tuesday after a truck tire exploded while he was inflating it at a tire repair shop in the Hamdan Industrial area. Surveillance cameras captured the moment of the explosion, which sent him flying several meters into the air before he fell to the ground lifeless.

A security source told 964media, “The young man was working at a tire repair shop in Hamdan Industrial when the truck tire exploded while he was inflating it.”

“The force of the explosion propelled him several meters into the air, and he died instantly due to the blast impact and severe injuries,” the source added.

On November 18, 2024, a similar incident occurred in Kalar, the administrative center of the Garmian independent administration in Sulaymaniyah governorate, where a young mechanic lost his life after a truck tire exploded while being inflated, resulting in fatal injuries.
