Officer shot during raid on drug dealers’ hideout in Nasiriyah

NASIRIYAH, October 14 — A captain in the National Security force was shot and injured on Saturday during a raid on a drug dealers’ hideout in the center of Nasiriyah.

A source from Dhi Qar’s police force told 964:

National Security forces conducted a raid in the early hours today, targeting individuals involved in drug trafficking in the Al-Barid area in central Nasiriyah.

The suspects engaged in an armed confrontation with the National Security personnel, resulting in the injury of a captain-ranked officer.

The officer sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand, of moderate severity. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.

The operation led to the arrest of four suspects under Article 28 of the Anti-Drug Law.
