Police in Sulaymaniyah arrest three for livestock theft and meat sale

SULAYMANIYAH — Police in Sulaymaniyah arrested three individuals Sunday, accusing them of stealing livestock, slaughtering the animals, and selling their meat, authorities said.

Officers from the Crime Prevention Department in the Said Sadiq district apprehended the suspects after a resident reported the theft of several livestock, according to a police statement.

Following an investigation and with judicial approval, authorities identified and arrested the suspects. “The suspects admitted to stealing a number of livestock and selling the meat,” the statement read.

The three individuals, aged 22, 24, and 30, were detained under Article 443 of Iraq’s Penal Code. During the arrest, authorities also seized a sum of money believed to be linked to the crime.
