Car overturns near Zakho Tunnel, injuring two and damaging speed camera

ZAKHO — A car overturned Tuesday at about 2 p.m. near the Zakho Tunnel, injuring two people and damaging a speed camera on the Duhok-Zakho road, authorities said.

The injured, identified as the driver and a passenger, were taken to Zakho Emergency Hospital. “The driver lost control of the vehicle, which caught fire after overturning,” Bekas Abdulkarim, a traffic official in Zakho, told 964media.

“The speed camera belongs to a private company, and the company will decide whether to press charges against the driver or waive the damages,” Abdulkarim added.

Zakho health department spokesperson Amir Ali confirmed to 964media that the injured remain under medical supervision.
