Massive fire destroys bakery in central Khanaqin

DIYALA — A massive fire broke out Monday morning in a two-story building in central Khanaqin, northeast of Diyala, engulfing and destroying a large bakery. Civil Defense teams managed to bring the blaze under control within half an hour. No casualties has been reported.

The bakery’s owner told 964media that the blaze started when a private generator caught fire. “The flames spread across the roof, eventually reaching the floors and consuming most of the building,” he explained.

Material damages are estimated at 60 million Iraqi dinars (approximately $40,000). The first floor of the building housed the bakery’s large oven, while the second floor was used to store supplies.
