President Nechirvan Barzani invites Al-Maliki to visit Kurdistan Region
BAGHDAD — The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, hosted Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani at his office in Baghdad on Monday for talks addressing political and security developments, regional challenges, according to a statement from Al-Maliki’s media office.
Concluding the meeting, Barzani extended an invitation to Al-Maliki to visit the Kurdistan Region, an offer that was “welcomed”.
Al-Maliki expressed hope that the visit would contribute “to strengthening relations and understanding between the two sides.”
Nechirvan Barzani traveled to Baghdad on Sunday evening to participate in the State Administration Coalition meeting, with focus on resolving financial disputes between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, including the issue of delayed salary payments. He held a series of meetings with Iraqi officials, including the Iraqi prime minister, the president, and speaker of parliament.
Nouri Al-Maliki, who stepped down as prime minister over a decade ago, remains an influential figure in Iraqi politics. His State of Law Coalition, holding 38 seats as the largest Shia parliamentary bloc, is a pivotal member of the Shia Coordination Framework.

The head of the State of Law Coalition, Mr. Nouri Al-Maliki, received the President of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, and his accompanying delegation at his office in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the political and security situation in the country and the region.
The two sides addressed the challenges facing the region and their repercussions on Iraq, exploring ways to resolve the current crises. They also discussed issues related to citizens’ interests and efforts to organize mutual commitments between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region, in accordance with the constitution and the provisions of the Federal General Budget Law.
Both parties emphasized the importance of coordination and joint cooperation among national forces to address the challenges facing the country in a way that serves the interests of all Iraqis.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani extended an invitation to Mr. Nouri Al-Maliki to visit the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Al-Maliki welcomed the invitation, expressing hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening relations and understanding between the two sides.
