Iraq responds to Iranian chief of staff’s remarks
BAGHDAD, October 8 — The High Committee responsible for implementing the joint security agreement with Iran stated that “the Iranian Chief of Staff is not adequately informed about the implementation of the security agreement” and invited Major General Mohammad Bagheri to communicate with the Iranian security committee to clarify matters.
This recent statement appears to be an official Iraqi response to the comments made by Iranian Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, on September 23rd, in which he stated that Iran was giving Iraq a few days to fulfill its obligations regarding the issue of expelling Iranian Kurdish opposition groups.
In a statement received by Network 964, the High Committee responsible for implementing the joint security agreement declared:
“It seems that the Iranian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces is not well-informed about the implementation of the security agreement, and it is preferable that he seeks clarification on these matters from the ongoing security committee communication between the two countries.”
