Five family members injured in traffic incident in Erbil’s Taqtaq district

TAQTAQ — A traffic incident near the village of Mukharras, within the Erbil’s Taqtaq district, injured five members of a family on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred on the road connecting Mukharras village to Taqtaq city center when a Hyundai Elantra overturned.

Four of the injured received treatment at Taqtaq General Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. However, the fifth injured person, the mother of the family, was transferred to Kirkuk due to the severity of her injuries.

Nabaz Hamekhan from Taqtaq Public Hospital confirmed the details to 964media, stating, “The patient transferred to Kirkuk is the mother of the family, and her injuries are serious, which necessitated her transfer.”

Mukharras village is located approximately nine kilometers from the center of Taqtaq district.

Traffic accidents remain a significant issue. On the Daquq-Tuz Khurmatu Road, a recent incident left nine civilians injured, three of whom are in critical condition.

According to Iraq’s Ministry of Health, 564 injuries were recorded nationwide during New Year’s celebrations on Jan. 1, with 203 resulting from traffic accidents.
