More than 21 tons
Store owner hands over 3,000 cartons of spoiled juice to authorities in Chamchamal
CHAMCHAMAL — Sulaymaniyah’s Chamchamal district announced on Tuesday that a store owner handed over 3,000 cartons of spoiled juice, weighing more than 21 tons, to the district’s joint committees. They were later destroyed.
According to the administration, the juice was spoiled due to improper transportation and storage methods, which led to its deterioration.
The joint committee commended the store owner for taking responsibility to protect public health. The administration urged other store owners, factories, and public facilities to report any suspected spoiled or expired products to the relevant committees before inspection visits are conducted.
There are ongoing efforts by authorities to monitor markets and eliminate spoiled or expired products. Earlier this month, security forces thwarted a merchant’s attempt to distribute 640 liters of expired cleaning products in Ranya’s market, Sulaymaniyah, preventing the goods from entering the city.
The next day, a 27 ton watermelon shipment was returned to Iran via the Bashmakh International Border Crossing in Penjwen, Sulaymaniyah, after being deemed unfit for consumption.
