50 artifacts discovered at Um Al-Aqarib site in northern Dhi Qar
DHI QAR — Antiquities officials announced on Wednesday the discovery of 50 artifacts at the Um Al-Aqarib site in northern Dhi Qar. The recovered items include coins of various sizes dating back to ancient eras. Their exact date, however, yet to be investigated and revealed.
According to a statement, the Antiquities and Heritage Protection Department in Dhi Qar formed a task force and intensified patrols at archaeological sites in coordination with the province’s Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate.
During a patrol at the “Um Al-Aqarib” site, the team discovered 50 artifacts, primarily coins of varying sizes from historical periods. The items were handed over to the Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate of the province and will be transferred to the Nasiriyah Museum in accordance with regulations.
