President Rashid and Badr Organization leader discuss Syrian crisis
BAGHDAD — Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with Badr Organization Secretary General Hadi Al-Amiri on Tuesday to discuss political and security developments, including the Syrian crisis, according to a statement released by his media office.
On Sunday, President Rashid, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting “peace and stability” in Syria during a meeting with Syrian Ambassador Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah. On his part, the Syrian ambassador to Iraq expressed gratitude for Iraq’s “support and backing” toward Syria.
In late November, the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir l-Sham, in coordination with other armed factions, launched a surprise offensive in northwestern Syria, capturing significant territories in parts of Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama. This rapid and organized advance marks a notable shift in the ongoing Syrian conflict, characterized by years of fluctuating control among competing factions.
