Syrian ambassador in Iraq hails ‘supportive’ stances toward his government

BAGHDAD — Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting “peace and stability” in Syria during a meeting with Syrian Ambassador Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah on Monday at Baghdad Palace, according to a statement from the Presidency’s office. In late November, the Islamist Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham, along with other armed-groups, launched a surprise offensive in northwestern Syria, seizing substantial territories across parts of Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama. This swift and coordinated advance represents a major development in the protracted Syrian conflict, which has seen shifting control among various factions over the years.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani, spoke via a phone call with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday, saying,” Syria’s security and stability are closely linked to Iraq’s national security and play a crucial role in regional security and efforts to establish stability in the Middle East,” as quoted by his media office.
