Second fatal crash in 24 hours
Three dead, four injured in collision on Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah road
KIRKUK — A three-vehicle collision on the Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah road on Saturday claimed the lives of three people and injured four others, including two children. The crash involved a BMW, a Toyota Yaris, and a Toyota Corolla, and caused severe damage to all three vehicles, according to a security source.
The accident occurred in the Giman area within Kirkuk’s jurisdiction. “Excessive speed caused the Yaris to swerve into the opposite lane, colliding first with a BMW and then a Corolla,” the source told 964media.
The driver of the BMW and his wife were killed on impact, while two children from their family were injured. The Yaris driver also died, and two passengers in the vehicle were injured. Emergency teams transported all victims and survivors to the hospital for treatment and further care.
The incident follows another fatal accident near Kirkuk’s Jabal Bour fuel station the previous night, in which a family of three—a father, mother, and young daughter—lost their lives. These back-to-back tragedies highlight the dangers of excessive speed and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
