Food poisoning at wedding in Hawija leaves 150 people hospitalized

KIRKUK, September 28 — Up to 150 guests at a wedding in Kirkuk’s Hawija district fell ill and were admitted to a local hospital late Wednesday with symptoms associated with suspected food poisoning.

A medical source told 964: “Due to tainted food at a wedding celebration, more than 150 individuals suffering from food poisoning were admitted to Hawija Hospital.”

The source added, “Medical authorities have taken necessary measures, and the situation is under control.”

The incident follows a deadly fire at a wedding in Hamdaniya on Tuesday that killed 114 guests and injured a further 150.
