Date farmers in Abu Ghraib enjoy bountiful harvest

BAGHDAD, September 26 — Date farmers in Abu Ghraib, west of Baghdad, have been busy harvesting palm trees clusters for the past week. The current season has been marked by high production, which has helped maintain reasonable prices for dadtes in the market.

The Zehdi variety of dates leads in production, while dates from other varieties, such as Barhi, Bride’s Fingers, Imran, and Khustawi, are also available this season.

Hassan, a local farmer in Abu Ghraib, expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank God that the production quantity this year has been strong.”

He added, “In my orchard, with 30 palm trees, we produced around one ton and two kilograms in the previous season. However, this year, we have harvested nearly a full ton more than that.”
