Traffic Police officer dies following crash in Duhok’s Semel district
DUHOK — A traffic police officer in Duhok’s Simel district was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle along Aloka Road while on duty.
Duhok Traffic Police spokesperson Azad Taha confirmed the incident, stating, “One of our traffic officers was struck by a car while performing his duties. He was seriously injured and immediately transferred to Azadi Hospital.” Despite receiving urgent medical care, the officer succumbed to his injuries later that night.
The officer’s body has been sent to the Duhok Forensic Medical Department, where, following official procedures, it will be released to his family.
According to a report from Duhok’s 122 Health Foundation, five individuals have died in traffic accidents in the area over the past two months, with more than six others injured.
