'I will remain loyal to the poor'
A decade of giving: Samarra activist builds dozens of homes for those in need
SALAH AL-DIN – Over the past decade, Mohammad Faleh, widely known as “Hamoudi Al-Mukhtar,” has expanded his charitable work in Samarra to include 11 projects aimed at supporting vulnerable communities. Faleh’s efforts have led to the construction of 37 homes, funding of medical surgeries, providing treatments, creating job opportunities for youth, supporting widows, and supplying wheelchairs for people with disabilities.
Faleh, 31, has garnered support from donors and benefactors who recognized his early work. In an interview with 964media, he explained that his journey in humanitarian work began in 2014 during the displacement crisis in Salah al-Din following the Islamic State’s assault on the region. He provided aid to displaced families, securing homes in Samarra for those affected by the violence in Al-Ishaqi, Al-Mu’tasim, Tikrit, Fallujah, and Ramadi.
Faleh’s transparency in documenting his charitable efforts on social media earned him the trust of donors, enabling him to expand his projects without political or governmental support. “All these efforts are without any political or governmental backing,” he emphasized.
One of the many cases Faleh highlighted involved a family who lost a son during dialysis due to their inability to afford surgery. Faleh raised funds to buy land for the family, marking the 37th home he is helping to build. “We are nearing the final stages of completion and handing over the keys,” he said.
Faleh also assisted a young man named Ayman from Tikrit, who required surgery abroad. After raising the necessary funds, Faleh accompanied Ayman to Egypt for treatment, and Ayman, now in his final year of secondary school, continues to receive support from Faleh.
Despite being in his thirties, Faleh has chosen to dedicate his life to his humanitarian work, stating, “I will not marry and will remain loyal to the poor, as I am responsible for hundreds of families.”
Faleh encourages young people to continue spreading hope and helping those in need, emphasizing that their involvement is crucial for the continuation of good work in society.
