Shiite Coordination Framework ‘blocked’ PM Al-Sudani from meeting over wiretapping allegations, says Badr official

BAGHDAD — Abu Mithaq Al-Masari, a leader in the Badr Organization, stated that Iraq’s ruling Shiite Coordination Framework “blocked” Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani from attending one of its meetings due to the ongoing wiretapping scandal.

Al-Masari said this move served as “a sufficient message” to the prime minister.

He said al-Sudani “handled the situation, and things have returned to normal,” denying media reports that the issue escalated to the point of requiring intervention from Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani.

In an interview On Dijlah TV, Al-Masari said:

The term ‘calm’ doesn’t accurately describe the current atmosphere within the Coordination Framework. The peak of the disagreement between the framework and the government occurred during a single session held without Al-Sudani, which was sufficient to send a message. During that session, the Coordination Framework may have addressed a sensitive issue, likely leading to discomfort and tension between its leaders and Al-Sudani. However, the framework decided to leave it at that, and the situation didn’t escalate to the level where Qaani’s involvement was necessary. He has more pressing tasks in Baghdad related to the region and the resistance axis, which are far more significant than these internal disputes.”

The decision to block Al-Sudani from attending that meeting was enough to convey the message, and he has since taken steps to resolve the issue, with matters now returning to normal. Today, the Coordination Framework and Al-Sudani are unified.

The solution between Al-Sudani and the Coordination Framework revolves around sharing the achievements. Al-Sudani’s candidacy with the framework for the upcoming elections has already been finalised.
