Iraq officially takes over opposition group camps near Iran

BAGHDAD, September 20 — Images obtained by 964 on Tuesday showed the Iraqi Army officially taking control of Iranian opposition camps located near the border with Iran.

This move was taken as part of Iraq’s commitment to the terms of a joint security agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Members of the opposition groups were relocated to a district far from the borders, and their weapons were confiscated ahead of their formal recognition as refugees, in accordance with the regulations of the Refugee Commission.
