Poll workers for upcoming Kurdistan Region elections to receive bonuses
ERBIL — The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq has set financial bonuses for poll workers in the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections, ranging from 150,000 ($100) to 250,000 Iraqi dinars ($166), depending on qualifications.
The commission’s council, which met on Thursday, August 20, decided that government employees serving as poll workers will receive 150,000 dinars, while poll workers holding university degrees or those who are students will receive 250,000 dinars.
These bonuses are compensation for a single day’s work, split between the special voting day and the general voting day. The funds will be distributed within six months following the election, slated for October 20, 2024.
Over 41,000 workers, selected through a rigorous vetting process, will oversee the election. This announcement was made on August 11 as part of the preparations for the long-awaited and long-delayed elections.
