Kurdistan Launches 24-Hour Electricity Pilot in Erbil neighbourhood
ERBIL- The Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG, announced that it has launched a pilot project to provide 24-hour national electricity to part of a neighborhood in Erbil. According to a ministry statement, the aim is to better understand the needs and demands of citizens in order to eventually provide round-the-clock electricity to all residents of the region.
“We have launched a pilot project aimed at providing 24-hour national electricity to a section of the Shadi neighborhood,” the ministry’s statement from the Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government.
According to the ministry, necessary coordination has been made with neighborhood generators to prevent potential power outages in the area. residents and businesses in the neighborhood will be notified of their consumption rates via SMS, and they will receive only one electricity bill per month to facilitate understanding their consumption levels.
The statement also indicates that this pilot project will help the Kurdistan Regional Government better understand the needs and demands of citizens, enabling the efficient provision of 24-hour electricity across the entire Kurdistan Region in the future.
