Border authorities return over 10,000 tons of goods to Turkey

ZAKHO – The Ibrahim Khalil border gate authorities in Zakho reported that inspection teams returned or confiscated 10,623 tons of goods and foodstuffs to Turkey in the first six months of 2024.

According to a statement from the border gate’s administration, the goods, including food, health items, cosmetics, veterinary supplies, and construction materials, were rejected because they did not meet the Kurdistan Regional Government’s regulations.

Ibrahim Khalil, situated between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, is the busiest border gate in Kurdistan, managing hundreds of trucks daily. Last year, approximately 20,000 tons of goods were denied entry through the same crossing.
