Peshmerga fighter killed, another injured in truck collision
MAKHMUR – A collision involving two trucks near Makhmur district resulted in the death of a Peshmerga fighter and left another injured on Saturday, officials said.
The crash occurred around noon near the village of Kandal, about three kilometers from Makhmur, involving a truck manned by Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and another truck carrying grain.
Authorities reported that the Peshmerga driver of one of the trucks was killed in the incident, while his comrade sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
An informed source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told 964media that the driver of the grain truck fled the scene after the accident.
