Following the ratification of Iraq's 2024 budget

KRG submits May payroll list to federal Ministry of Finance

ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s Ministry of Finance announced that it submitted the May payroll list to Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance. The payroll list, covering salaries for employees, pensioners, and social welfare recipients, was sent to Baghdad on June 4.

The submission comes as some security forces, including the Peshmerga, Asayish (General Security), Zerevani, and Emergency Defense Forces, have yet to receive their April salaries. The Iraqi government has requested the names of KRG security and defense personnel, while the KRG has proposed sending only the codes of those members due to the sensitivities involved.

Iraq’s Parliament approved the 2024 budget yesterday, which included the allocation of the Kurdistan Region’s salaries from current state expenditures. The budget allocated over $15 billion for KRG’s 2024 budget. Kurdish officials are optimistic that the new budget will resolve the issue of salary delays from Baghdad.
