Kurdistan Region announces further tuition fee reductions for students

ERBIL — The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region has announced a further 20% reduction in tuition fees for evening and parallel study programs with this latest cut coming on top of a previous 40% reduction.

The ministry’s decision, based on a resolution from the March 27 Council of Ministers meeting, applies not only to evening and parallel programs but also to postgraduate diploma, master’s, and doctoral studies at all public universities and institutes across the Kurdistan Region, including the Kurdistan Board for Medical Specialties.

The reduction applies only to the remaining tuition balance owed by students, who must settle the reduced amount in one single payment by May 5.

The parallel system in the Kurdistan Region offers a paid alternative for higher education, allowing students who may not meet the strict entry requirements of public universities to enroll for a fee.
