Live: Palm Sunday mass resonates with choir Hymns

AINKAWA, Erbil – Christians in Ainkawa, north of Erbil, are celebrating Palm Sunday with palm fronds and olive branches in hand, inside churches to the sound of hymns presented by choirs and the congregation for this feast.

Event Details: Palm Sunday occurs on the seventh and final Sunday of Lent before Easter (Resurrection Sunday), initiating Holy Week.

The day is known by several names, such as “Olive Sunday” or “Palm Sunday,” symbolizing victory as the people welcomed Jesus with these branches. It’s also referred to as the “Feast of Hosanna.”
