Barzani condemns assassination attempt against Karim

ERBIL – Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, strongly condemned the recent assassination attempt on Fakhri Karim, the head of the Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture, and Arts.

According to a statement obtained by 964media, Barzani received Karim at his headquarters in Salahaddin, Erbil, on Tuesday, and encouraged him to persist in his efforts to enhance Iraq’s cultural landscape, promote peace, and foster unity.

Barzani and Karim also discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, focusing on the challenges hindering stability, unity, and collaboration among Iraqis.

Karim, who previously served as an advisor to former Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, leads the Al-Mada Foundation, a prominent cultural institution in Iraq. The foundation organizes major cultural events such as book fairs in Baghdad and Erbil and manages various broadcast and print media outlets.
