Closed for Ramadan
Suq Al-Shuyukh resort attracts visitors
DHI QAR – After retiring, Hamad Nashi Al-Kaabi looked over the trees in his orchard by the Euphrates River in Suq Al-Shuyukh and decided to open a unique restaurant. This establishment has since evolved into a resort, featuring a fish pond for breeding red fish, children’s playgrounds, and becoming a favored destination for visitors from Nasiriyah, attracting families, school trips, and university outings seeking a respite from urban life.
The restaurant closes temporarily during Ramadan and reopens after Eid al-Fitr, ready to welcome guests keen to enjoy the spring atmosphere.
Al-Kaabi told 964media, “After retiring from my job, I wanted to use my orchard productively, so I established this restaurant for citizens, families, and educational trips.”
The establishment has gained significant popularity as a leisure spot for families from across the province, with visitors making an effort to keep the area clean.
“We operate a licensed fish pond and offer only masgouf fish, an Iraqi grilled fish, at market price, sourced from the red species. Guests are welcome to bring their own food without any obligation to purchase from us,” Al-Kaabi said.
A visitor, Abu Adnan, told 964media, “Upon our arrival, we found not just a resort but a recreational place bustling with families. We were captivated by the beauty of the location, which has all the elements for success.”
Nasir Al-Hajimi, another guest, remarked, “We came here for the clean environment, away from the noise and dust, with excellent service. It’s conveniently located between the Suq Al-Shuyukh district and the Al-Fadliya area.”
Karar Ali, a student from the University of Dhi Qar’s College of Engineering, shared, “We visited today. It’s a respectable and quiet place, frequented by decent families and we received a warm welcome from the restaurant owners.”
