Erbil civil defense officer dies on duty
ERBIL – The Erbil Civil Defense Directorate recently announced the death of a firefighter who died while battling a blaze in a residence within the Zilan neighborhood.
The directorate’s statement identified the firefighter as Maj. Firidon Sadiq, who was trapped during a firefighting operation in a central Erbil home.
After being rescued from the fire, he ultimately succumbed to smoke inhalation.
