Iraqi delegation visits Jordan for border security talks

BAGHDAD, August 23 — A high-level security delegation headed by Minister of Interior Mr. Abd al-Amir al-Shammari arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Wednesday to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two countries and discuss enhancing mutual border security and collaboration in combating drug trafficking.

A statement from the Minister’s press office said:

Mr. Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, the Minister of Interior, arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, this morning, leading a security delegation upon an official invitation from his Jordanian counterpart. The delegation is accompanied by the Border Forces Commander, the Director of Drug Enforcement, and the Director of Civil Status Affairs.

This visit aims to solidify a memorandum of understanding and engage in discussions about reinforcing joint border security and cooperation in combating drug and psychotropic substances, along with matters of mutual security interest. The Jordanian Minister of Interior welcomed him and the accompanying delegation.
