Tikrit female short story competition winners announced

TIKRIT—The Female Short Story Competition in Tikrit concluded on Sunday, awarding the top honors to two contestants from Iraq and one from Morocco. The event, sponsored by the College of Education for Women at Tikrit University and Dar Al-Ibdaa for Printing and Publishing, attracted 45 entries from Syria, Algeria, Palestine, Morocco, Yemen, and Iraq.

The submissions from outside Iraq were received by the organizing committee and thoroughly evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including storytellers Jamal Nouri & storyteller Jamil Ibrahim; and critics Anfal Kazem, Kifah Al-Alousi & Dr. Safana Shaaban.

At the award ceremony, the winners were announced as follows: Shaima Najm Abdullah from Baghdad claimed first place with her story “Red Dress”; Amal Abdul Khaliq from Salah Al-Din secured second place with “Widows of the Sibilliat”; and Khadija Al-Suwaidi from Morocco earned third place with “The Grape Cook.”
