Prime minister chairs meeting on Baghdad airport expansion

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani chaired a meeting Sunday with representatives from the International Finance Corporation and the committee tasked with drafting the rehabilitation and expansion plans for Baghdad International Airport. The IFC, part of the World Bank Group, provides investment, advisory, and asset-management services to foster private sector development in emerging markets.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, shared with 964media, detailed that the discussions centered on a comprehensive report outlining the proposed plans, implementation strategies, and included various observations and recommendations for addressing challenges faced during the project’s development.

Al-Sudani urged thorough consideration and discussion of these insights to ensure alignment with the government’s strategic vision.

The Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to elevating Baghdad International Airport to international standards, enhancing its services, and ensuring it serves as a distinguished gateway reflecting Iraq’s ‘esteemed’ and ‘civilized’ image.
