Major fire at Chinese company HQ in Nasiriyah

NASIRIYAH — A fire erupted at the Power China headquarters in central Nasiriyah on Saturday.

Civil Defense units rapidly extinguished the blaze that engulfed four caravans, without resulting in any injuries.

A security source revealed to 964media that the incident occurred at the facilities of the company, which is engaged in Nasiriyah as part of the Iraqi-Chinese agreement to construct 106 schools within the Dhi Qar governorate.

Preliminary investigations suggest an electrical short-circuit as the cause, with the situation possibly worsened by the concurrent rainfall.
