Dukan tourism warns against untreated lake water use
SULAYMANIYAH – The Dukan Tourism Directorate has issued an advisory to tourism ventures within its purview, cautioning against the use of untreated Dukan Lake water. This warning is aimed at safeguarding the health of tourists frequenting sites along the lake’s shores.
Rezhin Raouf Hama Saleh, Director of Dukan Tourism, told 964media, “The advisory is directed at hotels, motels, cabins, and other lodging facilities hosting tourists.”
Saleh stressed that these establishments should treat the water with purifying agents, such as chlorine, in accordance with health standards to ensure its safety for use.
The directorate intends to carry out inspections through a committee to verify the water tanks at these sites. Establishments found in violation will be subjected to inquiries and may face monetary fines.
Information provided to 964media indicates that there are over 100 licensed establishments and more than three thousand local chalets and tourist spots in the Dukan area, featuring an eight-kilometer stretch of attractions along the shores of the smaller Dukan Lake.
