BASRA, August 14 — Dozens of oil engineering graduates staged a protest in front of the gate of the Basra Oil Company on Monday, demanding employment as part of the 10,000 job positions allocated for Basra as outlined in the national budget law.

Protester Maha Hussein, told 964: “This is not the first time we’ve protested to demand employment. Today, our demonstrations are taking place in front of the headquarters of the Basra Oil Company to exert pressure on the relevant authorities.”

“As part of the budget, Basra has been allocated 10,000 job positions across various disciplines, and we are demanding that engineering specializations be included.”

Protester Hussein Kareem said: “Our numbers are no more than 500 graduates, and so far, we have not seen any cooperation from the relevant authorities or Basra’s deputies.”
