Firefighters extinguish blaze at two-story commercial building in eastern Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Iraqi Civil Defense teams extinguished a fire Tuesday at a two-story commercial building housing several shops in the Talbiyah area of eastern Baghdad, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

Footage circulating online showed thick columns of smoke and flames rising from the building during the early stages of the fire. Firefighters subsequently brought the blaze under control and extinguished it completely, with authorities reporting no casualties. The cause and circumstances of the fire remained unknown at the time of reporting.

Fires in commercial buildings, markets, fuel stations and warehouses, are common, with Iraqi Civil Defense often citing electrical faults, flammable materials and safety violations.
