'No threat'
Baghdad police say object near Communications Ministry was a ‘toy drone’
BAGHDAD — Baghdad Karkh Police Command on Wednesday denied reports that a drone had fallen near the Ministry of Communications, saying the object was a children’s toy and posed no threat.
The command said “some social media platforms circulated news about the fall of a ‘drone’ near the Ministry of Communications building, and after verification by the competent authorities, it turned out that the aircraft was only a children’s toy and posed no threat or cause for concern.”
The clarification followed media reports earlier in the day claiming a drone had fallen near the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Baghdad, with initial information suggesting it carried no explosives and may have been used for photography.
Police urged the public to “exercise accuracy in conveying and sharing information and rely only on official sources.”
